Most Rewarding Volunteer Experience: I interned with a small organization in Ecuador's Amazon Basin during my undergraduate studies. I conducted a survey among the local indigenous population regarding the social and environmental effects of the local oil industry. Most, rewardingly, I was able to live in a small indigenous community, Kanchiwanushka, way out in the middle of the jungle. The people there were wonderfully welcoming and included me in all their community events. I'll never forget their kindness!

Volunteer Goals: Improve the capacity of NGOs and civil society around the world

What inspires you to volunteer?: Volunteering connects me with people from different places, lifestyles, and backgrounds - I have the opportunity to both learn from them and share my experiences to improve our society.

Favorite Books: Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie
