PROJECT DOCUMENT
Background
Have you ever imagined walking around with torn clothes or barefooted? Have you ever thought that you could be struck by natural disasters and lose your lifetime earnings and all your valuables? Do you think you have the heart and the means to share with people in these hardships? We believe you care, we believe because,
Hope, is YOU.
How many times have we looked into our wardrobe and see clothes that we don’t need but don’t know what we are going to do with it? How about that pair of shoes that does not fit any more, and there is no one to pass it on to? and how about those books that are not needed anymore?
Well, giving that shirt, skirt, pair of trousers, shoes, books or any other material that could be useful; will make a whole lot of difference because it can put a smile on someone, a mile away, because it means hope and Hope, is YOU.
About Hope, is YOU
Hope, is YOU is an initiative of Lend A Hand Society, a leading grassroots youth organisation in the Gambia. The project is conceived to mobilise resources in the form of shoes, clothing, books and other materials to help less fortunate people in the Gambia. You can join us by helping people who are struck by natural disasters as well as those who cannot simply afford decent clothing and footwear.
Hope, is YOU is not asking you to contribute money or give away your wardrobe or shoe locker, Hope, is YOU is simply asking you to part with that dress that has been with you for so long and you do not want it anymore but it is still decent to put a smile on another less fortunate face. The project is asking you to donate that pair of shoes that does not fit you anymore but can protect poor feet from sunburns.
How can you contribute?
Do you have more than you need or do you just want to share? All you need to do is to part with those clothes or pair of shoe (s) or books. You don’t need to come to us; we will come to you to collect your donation. All you do is to ensure that whatever you are giving away is in good condition and can be used with pride by a less fortunate person.
There is joy in giving…. But this is not just giving, it is putting a smile on a face or faces.
Can I volunteer?
You can be a part of the Hope, is YOU project by not just giving but by being a volunteer. All you do is to inform us that you want to volunteer for the project. You can volunteer by collecting materials on our behalf from your neighbourhood, help in ironing dresses, spreading the word about Hope, is YOU around your neighbourhood or simply sorting and packaging donated items.
Partnerships
The lofty goals of Hope, is YOU cannot be achieve by one single organization alone. There is need for concerted efforts and partnerships to be able to reach out to more people in terms of donors and recipients. In this vein we are happy to collaborate and partner with all organizations that share the noble goals of Hope, is YOU… Together we can make a whole lot of difference.
